Well it was another fun filled action packed day here at Nerd HQ! I logged in with people and helped them solve problems. Then I fixed about 6 months worth of deposits for a client. It was a mess. I had to log into his bank account and look at the deposit details because there was no rhyme or reason to how this guy posts is payment dates. When a customer pays him I think he rolls the dice and somehow uses that date to determine the date he assigns the customer payment. I’m kidding around I really love this guy but it makes me laugh when I know that something like this that seems so obvious to me completely escapes him. He just doesn’t care. So off I went logging in to see what individual checks made up each deposit. The problem is that I had to go back to July with this and BofA doesn’t keep the deposit images back that far. No bank does. What I did notice however which I was very excited to discover is that on the back of the deposit slip the individual amounts were listed and since he did at least book the payments in QuickBooks I was able to search out each payment, correct the date and re-construct his deposits. I love it when a plan comes together!
The I was able to help out a friend with some 1099s and she was happy!
The End!
